Pitch Submission Process

Mudawan accepts pitches on a rolling basis. Please follow these guidelines carefully; pitches that do not comply with our instructions will not be considered.

We accept only one pitch per contributor at a time. Previously written but unpublished articles are also welcome.


Mudawan Pitch Template

  • Email subject line: [Your Name in Last, First format] – [Pitch Title] – Article Pitch. For example: Last Name, First Name – The Rise of AI in Financial Markets – Article Pitch
  • Introduction and key details: Introduce yourself in 1-2 sentences. Attach a CV/resume and/or a LinkedIn profile. Briefly describe your story idea and why it matters.
  • Pitch summary: Summarize your article idea in 1-2 paragraphs. Include the who, what, when, where, and why. Explain how your article provides insightful analysis or original research.
  • Contributors: State if you are the sole contributor and provide relevant details for any co-authors or collaborators.
  • Multimedia components: Specify if your article will include charts, graphs, photos, or videos. Provide proper attribution for all media elements.
  • Length: Estimate the word count of your proposed article. If already written, include the total word count.
  • Originality: Confirm that your work is original and unpublished elsewhere. If you have pitched it to other outlets, please specify.
  • Previous work: Include links to relevant writing samples that demonstrate your style and analytical approach. For completed articles, provide a live Word/Google document link for editorial review.

General Content Guidelines

  • Relevance: Articles should align with Mudawan’s analytical and fact-based approach. Each piece should provide depth, insight, and context.
  • Clarity: Writing should be clear, concise, and structured logically. Avoid jargon unless it is clearly explained.
  • Originality: Articles must be original, unpublished, and written solely for Mudawan.
  • Credibility: All statistics, claims, and visuals must be supported with reputable sources. Mudawan maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism.

Article Formats

Submissions should fall into one of the following categories:

  1. Opinion: Clear, argument-driven pieces where writers take a position and provide their own perspective (Length: 800-1,200 words).
  2. Analysis: Evidence-based, structured articles explaining political, economic, or social issues with depth, research, and context (Length: 1,000-1,600 words).
  3. Essays: Reflective or narrative pieces that explore ideas, personal experiences, or cultural reflections (Length: 900-1,400 words).
  4. Features / Investigative: Longer, storytelling-style articles, profiles, and thematic deep-dives (Length: 1,500-3,000 words).
  5. Interviews: Conversations with experts, creatives, policymakers, or individuals with meaningful stories (Length: 800-1,500 words).
  6. Blogs / Short Takes: Shorter, fast-turnaround commentary, reactions, or informal reflections (Length: 400-700 words).
  7. Explainers: Straightforward breakdowns of complex issues (e.g., “What is…?”, “Why does this matter…?”) (Length: 700-1,200 words).
  8. Multimedia: Non-text content including explainers, interviews, photo essays, and data visuals.
